Oakbrook was laid out in 1966 at the center of one of Washington’s biggest planned neighborhoods — a course the whole community grew up around. The oaks were here first. Everything else came after.

A PRIVATE CLUB IS PLANTED

Eighteen holes routed through the oak groves of the new Oakbrook neighborhood. For 46 years, members only — and quietly one of the best-conditioned courses in the South Sound.

THE GATES OPEN

Oakbrook opens to the public. The private-club conditions stay; the guest list goes away. Firm greens, honest prices, walk-ups welcome.
